Fire-Rated, High Strength, Prestressed Concrete Ultralintels

Overview

What Are Ultralintels?

Ultralintels are load-bearing support beams placed above an opening in a wall that is typically formed to accommodate a door or window. Ultralintels are manufactured using prestressed concrete technology and are particularly well-suited for use in brickwork construction. Ultralintels come in two depths in order to be compatible with brick coursing – 80mm & 170mm. They are available in a range of stock lengths.

Why Use Ultralintels?

Strong

Unlike steel lintels, Ultralintels work compositely with the brick-courses over to form a deep beam. This gives them a high load carrying capacity

Durable

Because Ultralintels are pre-stressed they are dimensionally stable and do not crack. Furthermore there is no conventional steel reinforcement. The only steel cast into Ultralintels is high strength 7-wire strand that does nor corrode. They are particularly well-suited in aggressive environments close to the sea

Fire Rated

Ultralintels are the only lintels that have been fire-tested under load. They come with a fire rating certificate from the CSIRO

Render Friendly

The slide-forming process used to manufacture Ultralintels provides a roughened finish on the sides and on the top. This rough finish on the sides is ideally suited to the application of a cement render. The rough finish on the top ensures strong composite action with the mortar and brickwork above

Economic

Concrete lintels replace a requirement for bricks that would be needed if steel lintels were to be used
